What is ICICI Bank Companion Card?

The ICICI Bank Companion Card is an EMV chip & PIN technology based pre-paid card, which can be loaded in rupees. The card does not have any minimum balance requirement and it offers you the flexibility of using it at all the VISA ATMs and merchant outlets in India as well as for making e-commerce (online) transactions.

Keep a bulk amount in your Savings Account and set aside funds you want to spend into the Companion Card. It is the ideal alternative to traditional ways of managing funds as it can keep a check and control on expenditures.

How to buy an ICICI Bank Companion Card?

Steps to avail a Companion Card*:

  • Log in to the ICICI Bank iMobile Pay app

  • Select ‘Cards & Forex’ from the dashboard → Companion Card → Apply Now

  • Select your Savings Account

  • Click on ‘Select Card’ to proceed

*Note: To avail a Companion Card, it is required to have the cKYC number of your Savings Account updated. To update cKYC number, visit the nearest ICICI Bank Branch.

You will avail the Companion Card within 5 working days at your doorstep.

What about the available balance on the Companion Card after it has expired?

You can place a request at our Customer Care for the replacement card. The new card will be issued and the available balance will be transferred to the new card within 11 working days. Replacement charges of Rs 199 + service tax will be levied on the new card. As soon as you get your replacement card, generate your PIN through the iMobile Pay app.

To set PIN online, follow these simple steps:

  • Log in to the iMobile Pay app

  • Select ‘Cards & Forex’ from the dashboard → Companion Card → ‘Set PIN’

Alternatively, you can also place a refund request with our Customer Care for the available balance on the card and the amount will be credited into the Savings Account you have used to avail the card. The available balance on the card will be credited into your Account within 7 working days. All refund requests have to be placed within 3 months from the card expiry date i.e. ‘Valid Thru’ as printed on the card.

Is there a daily transaction limit for my card?

Yes, there is a daily minimum and maximum transaction limit on your card which will depend on the channel, which you are using for the transaction.

Can I change the transaction limit on my card?

Yes, you can change the transaction limit on your card instantly. To change the transaction limit, please follow these simple steps:

  • Log in to the ICICI Bank iMobile Pay app

  • Select ‘Cards & Forex’ from the dashboard  Companion Card  Transaction Settings

How can I check my balance on the Companion Card?

To check your balance on the Companion Card:

  • Log in to the iMobile Pay app

  • Select ‘Cards & Forex’ from the dashboard → Companion Card→ ’View Balance’

How can I generate/set the PIN for my ICICI Bank Companion Card?

To generate/set the PIN online, follow these simple steps:

  • Log in to the iMobile Pay app

What should I do if my Companion Card is lost/stolen?

Your ICICI Bank Companion Card comes with zero lost-card liability. Report loss of the card to our Customer Care as soon as you come to know of it. You can block the card through iMobile Pay or we will block the card for you and thus prevent any further usage. We will then provide you with a replacement card. Generate your PIN through iMobile Pay as soon as you get your replacement card.

How to activate the Companion Card after making the purchase?

You need to activate the card for the first time after making the purchase through iMobile Pay.

Steps to activate a Companion Card:

  • Log in to the ICICI Bank iMobile Pay app

  • Select ‘Cards & Forex’ from the dashboard → Companion Card → Add Money

  • Select Savings Account → Enter Amount

  • Provide consent to debit account and select ‘Get OTP’

  • Enter OTP and confirm

The amount will be deducted from your linked Savings Account and will be loaded into the ICICI Bank Companion Card. Your card will be active instantly. Once you receive the physical card, you can use it for payments at POS terminals, e-commerce transactions and cash withdrawals from ATMs.

Can I use my card instantly after activating the Companion Card?

You need to activate the card for the first time after making the purchase through iMobile Pay. You can use the card after you receive the physical card within 5 working days of the purchase of the card through iMobile Pay. The card can then be used for payments at POS terminals, e-commerce transactions and cash withdrawals from ATMs.

What will happen if I enter an incorrect PIN during a transaction or ATM cash withdrawal?

In case of 3 incorrect PIN attempts, your card will be disabled. You can re-activate your card by calling Customer Care. If you enter the incorrect PIN thrice, some ATMs may retain your card and you may need to contact the ATM operator to collect your card. In such cases, you can call the Customer Care to avail a replacement card.

Is there any charge applicable for loading the Companion Card?

No, there are no charges on reloading your card. There are also no restrictions applicable on the number of re-loadings. However, the maximum amount that can be loaded on your card is Rs 1 lakh.

Where can ICICI Bank Companion Card be used?

The Companion Card can be used at any VISA-enabled points of sale(POS) terminal or ATM. The card can also be used for online transactions.

How many times can the card be re-loaded?

There is no restriction on the number of re-loadings on a card.

What does a Companion Card kit contain?

The ICICI Bank Companion Card kit contains the following:

  • EMV Chip & PIN enabled card

  • Vouchers, as per your joining benefits

  • Welcome Letter

  • User Manual

  • Envelope: With the following instruction on the seal "ACCEPT PACKAGE ONLY IF SEAL INTACT. DO NOT HANDOVER PACKAGE TO ANYONE".

What is the validity of the Companion card?

The validity of the card is 5 years from the data of issue i.e. “Valid From” as printed on the card.

What is the minimum and maximum amount that can be loaded on the Companion card?

The maximum available balance in your card should not exceed INR 1,00,000 at any time. There is no minimum balance that can be loaded.

How can I change the limit for my card?

To change the limit for your card, you may login to iMobile Pay using your user ID and password. Alternately, you may call our Customer Care and make a request. Our Customer Care Executive will take your request and it will be completed within 5 working days. The Customer Care number is 022 50405238.

What about the available balance on the card after the card has expired?

You can place a request at our Customer Care for the replacement card. The new card will be issued and the available balance will be transferred to the new card within 11 working days. Replacement charges of Rs. 199 plus service tax will be levied on the new card. As soon as you get your replacement card, generate your PIN through the iMobile Pay App.

Alternately, you can also place a refund request at our Customer Care for the available balance on the card and share your bank account details with us in which the amount has to be credited. The available balance on the card will be credited in your account within 7 working days. How is the ICICI Bank Companion Card secured against unauthorised payments at merchant outlets?

ICICI Bank Companion Card comes with enhanced security of EMV Chip & PIN technology. Additionally, you are required to sign on the charge slip (produced by the Electronic Data Capture machine at the time of purchase) to complete a transaction at the merchant outlet. The merchant has to match this signature with the signature on the signature panel on the reverse of the card. Transactions at merchant outlets are thus protected by your signature. You must ensure that you sign on the signature panel as soon as you receive the card.

How do I withdraw cash from an ATM using the ICICI Bank Companion Card?

To withdraw cash from an ATM, first look for the "VISA" or "Plus" logo on the ATM. At an ATM where the logo is present:

Insert the card in the card slot as advised on the ATM panel. The ATM will ask you for your PIN

Enter the ATM-PIN of you card. Once your ATM-PIN is validated, the machine will prompt you to enter the amount of cash you wish to withdraw

Enter the amount of cash you need. If your ICICI Bank Companion Card has sufficient funds, the machine will dispense the requested cash.

Can an ATM be used to check the amount of funds remaining on the Companion Card?

Most ATMs have the facility to check the balance on the card. However, you may also check the same in your iMobile app.

What if I forget the ATM-PIN of my ICICI Bank Companion Card?

If you forget your ATM-PIN, you can reset the PIN by logging in to iMobile Pay app. Alternately, you may call our Customer Care and ask to reset your PIN.
