Internet Banking:
Internet Banking provides you the convenience of operating your account 24 X 7 from the comfort of your home or office. Using this, you can place requests like:
- Opening Fixed Deposits/ Recurring Deposits
- Generate your Debit Card PIN
- Updation of PAN details
- Activation of Inactive/Dormant account
- Updation of Contact number / Email ID
- Request for Cheque Book /ATM /Debit Card
- Registration for e-statement facility

Phone Banking :
The above requests can also be placed through our 24-hour Toll free customer care lines . In case toll free lines are not available in your country , you can take advantage of our click to call facility. Branches in India:
On your visit to India , you can also make use of our wide network of 3500 branches in the country for operating your account.
Overseas :
You can also operate your account from the branches at the following locations overseas :

Note : You can do most of the transactions from the branches listed above. However , there are a few which cannot be done form these branches.
Debit/ATM card
You are given a debit cum ATM card with your NRI account. You can use this card for withdrawing funds , shopping and much more. Also, this debit card is required for authentication for transaction done using Internet or Phone banking.
Please note that the debit cards linked to NRE accounts can be used at merchant establishments overseas and on e-commerce portals whereas the cards linked to NRO accounts can be used only on merchant establishments in India and cannot be used on e-commerce portals.
Mandate Holder:
Mandate holder is a person who can operate your NRI account in India on your behalf . This person can perform transactions like:
- Making local payments
- Closing FDs on maturity or Renewing FDs
- Opening additional FD in the same Customer ID
We give a cheque book and ATM card to your mandate holder to make it easy for him to operate your account.
How to register a Mandate Holder:
You can register a mandate holder for your account by submitting the 'Add the Mandate form'. Click here to download the form. The form has to be signed by both the account holder and the mandate holder.
The mandate holder then needs to visit an ICICI Bank branch and submit the form along with the following documents:
- Recent photograph
- Copies of relevant Identity and Address proof along with the filled form.
- The photocopies of the documents have to be self-attested. Also, the original documents have to be carried for verification.
We suggest that you add a mandate holder to your account as this will make it easier for you to operate your account. Also, if your want your family in India to access your account , appointing a family member as mandate holder is a good option.
Cheque Book:
A cheque book is given to you when you open a new NRI account.
If you need a new cheque book , you can place a request for the same through your Internet Banking account by following the path below :

Note : For resident accounts redesinated to NRO accounts , old cheque books are valid.
How can your family in India operate your account?
Mandate Holder : You can appoint a family member in India as your mandate holder . This will allow your family member to operate your account in India.
This person can perform transactions like:
- Make local payments
- Close FDs on maturity or renew FDs
- Open additional FD under the same customer ID
We shall provide a cheque book and an ATM card to your mandate holder to make it easy for him to operate your account.
How to register a Mandate Holder:

What all do you need to operate your account ?
You can operate your account vide the following modes:
- Internet Banking: You will need a user ID and password.
- Internet Banking ID:
- The Customer ID printed on the first page of your cheque book is your Internet Banking User ID.
- If you have forgotten your ID , the same can be generated by Clicking 'Get User ID' under ' Login' on our website www.icicibank.com/nri.
- Internet Banking Password :
- The Internet Banking Password is in the PIN mailer which is a part of the welcome kit given to you after account opening.
- In case you have lost or forgotten your password , the same can be generated by clicking 'Forgot Password' under ' Login' on our website www.icicibank.com/nri.
- Internet Banking ID:
- Debit Card :
- You require your debit card not only for cashless shopping at mechant establishments and online portals but also for authentication on Internet and Phone Banking.
- Please note that the debit card linked to NRE accounts can be used at merchant establishments overseas and on e-commerce portals whereas the cards linked to NRO accounts can be used only on merchant establishments in India and cannot be used on e-commerce portals.
- A complimentary debit card is issued to you at the time of account opening.
- If you have lost or misplaced your debit card , you can request for a new debit card by calling our 24-hour customer care or by selecting the service request 'Reissue of lost ATM/Debit Card' under 'Service Request' in your Internet Banking account.

- Email ID:
It is important that you keep your email ID registered with us because we send important information like the following is sent to your registered email ID.
- E-statement of your NRI accounts
- OTPs (One Time Passwords) for transactions through Internet Banking.
- Status of service requests.
- Important information like change in regulations pertaining to your account , status of your account and related information.
You can easily update your email ID in our system by calling our 24-hour customer care or visiting your nearest branch in India.
- Cheque Book:
- A cheque book is given to you when you open a new NRI account.
- If you need a new cheque book , you can place a request for the same through your Internet Banking account by following the below mentioned steps :

What are the contents of the welcome kit given at the time of account opening?
You will receive the following in the welcome kit:
- Debit Card – You debit card gives you the advantage of cashless shopping at merchant establishments and online portals. Not only this, the values given in a grid at the back of your debit card are required for authentication and transactions over Internet and Phone Banking.
- Debit Card PIN – The debit card PIN will be required for transactions at ATMs,merchant establishments and while placing a service request at our customer care.
- Internet Banking ID and password – These help you to access your NRI account online, from the comfort of your home or office. Using Internet Banking you can place a lot of requests like:
- Opening Fixed Deposits/ Recurring Deposits
- Updation of PAN details
- Activation of Inactive/Dormant account
- Updation of Contact number / Email ID
- Request for Cheque Book /ATM /Debit Card
- Registration for e-statement facility
- Cheque book - Your cheque book will help you in withdrawing money from your account transferring money to other accounts, making payments etc.
- User guide - This guide will give you details about the channels like Internet and Phone banking through which you can access your account, service charges applicable to your account , toll free numbers on which you can call our 24-hour customer care and much more. What is the difference between NRE account & NRO account?
