Can I retain the foreign exchange on my ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card after returning to India?
You can retain the residual balance in the card only if it is less than $2,000. Refunds have to be claimed within 180 days from your date of arrival (as per RBI regulations). If you do not avail of the refund on time, the card would be suspended and you could face legal action.

What conversion rates are charged at the time of purchase?
You can buy the card at the foreign exchange rate prevalent on the day as offered by the ICICI Bank branch. Similarly, for refunds, the prevailing exchange rate is applied.
If I am travelling to two different countries in one trip, can I get two different currencies loaded on the same card?
Yes, ICICI Bank Multicurrency Forex Prepaid Card can be loaded with upto 15 currencies on a single card. This card can be used to transact in various countries using the amounts from the respective currency wallets at all VISA affiliated merchant outlets, ATMs and e-commerce.
*The total amount loaded on a card, all currencies combined should be done as per prevailing RBI and FEMA regulations.
What do I need to do to reload my card when I am abroad?
For reloading the card , Authorization letter from the card holder with the persons name and attested signature who will place the request on his behalf and acknowledge the transaction shall have to be obtained from the person placing the request along with the following documents:
- Passport Copy of the card holder
- Form A2 signed by the card holder
- Reload Form signed by the card holder
- Identity card of the person placing the request
Alternatively, the card can also be reloaded Online in real time by using iMobile and RIB.

Can the Forex Prepaid card be used in India?
No, the card cannot be used in India, Nepal & Bhutan. Balance inquiry is allowed free of charge in ICICI Bank ATM in India (Not available for Multicurrency Forex Prepaid Card). However balance available on the card will be reflected in the INR (Indian rupees) but actual balance will be the same what was available in the loaded currency.
At what rate can I get my funds refunded?
The funds would be credited to the cardholder at the ongoing rate of the day when he/she apply for the refund. These rates will be available at the nearest ICICI Bank branch, iMobile, Internet Banking or money changer.
What are the minimum and maximum amounts I can load on ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card?
Usage of the ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card should be in strict accordance with the regulations of the Reserve Bank of India and FEMA regulations.
The minimum load amount is <1> unit of respective currencies (i.e. USD 1, GBP 1 and so on). The maximum load amount should be done as per the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 and prevailing RBI regulations.

What forex rates are charged at the time of purchase?
The card can be bought at the ongoing forex rate of that day offered by the ICICI Bank branch or the Money Changers from where the card has been bought. The forex rates are similar to the rates charged for Travelers Cheques.
If the merchant says that the Forex Prepaid card is not working, what is to be done?
Ask the merchant to ensure that he has swiped on a Credit Card terminal. Machine should accept VISA/MasterCard flag cards.
If the card is still getting declined, walk into the nearest ATM to check the available balance on the card. Customers can withdraw the cash from the ATM and settle with the merchant. Report the matter to ICICI Bank, for follow up with the Merchant.
What exchange rates are applied when a transaction is made on the card?
For transactions done in the base currency, there is no exchange rate applicable. However, for transactions other than in the Base Currency, VISA / MATERCARD wholesale rates* would apply.
These rates are generally more favourable than the rates offered by money changers.
*There will be a currency conversion markup of 3.5% plus Goods and Service Tax as applicable will be levied by the Bank.

Can I buy more than one ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card?
Yes. You can own more than one ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card but the purpose of travel needs to be different such as business or leisure.
How long does it take to get the refund in my account?
It takes up to 3 hours for the refund to reflect in the account. In some cases due to system issues, it may take 1 working day for the refund amount to reflect in the account.
Where will I find my Primary Card ATM PIN and Secondary Card ATM PIN? How can I change them?
Both Primary and Secondary Card ATM PINs are triggered to the registered mobile number once they are activated. Primary Card ATM PIN is triggered as soon as the kit is activated. Secondary Card ATM PIN is generated once the Primary Card is closed/permanently blocked and the Secondary Card is activated. The ATM PIN can be changed by logging into the iMobile Pay app or Net Banking.
What is the process of refund for a Corporate Forex Card?
Customers having a Corporate Forex Card would have to contact their RM or visit an ICICI Bank Branch for a Forex Card refund, along with a request letter on a corporate letterhead (signed by an authorised signatory), a refund form and a passport copy for which the INR amount will be credited to the Corporate Current Account. In case the customer needs a refund in their personal account, an NOC on a corporate letterhead (signed by an authorised signatory), a refund form and a passport copy will be required.
Can I use the Student Forex Prepaid card in India?
No, you cannot use the card in India, Nepal and Bhutan. You can check the balance on the card free of charge at any ICICI Bank ATMs in India. The balance displayed would be in Indian Rupee equivalent. You can also generate a new ATM PIN at ICICI Bank ATMs in India, free of cost.
What is Dynamic Currency Conversion?
Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), also referred to as Cardholder Preferred Currency (CPC), is a service offered by merchants – not VISA - in some countries when you are travelling abroad. If you choose to use the DCC service, the merchant will convert the purchase price of goods or services at the point of sale from the currency in which the price (i.e. the merchant’s local currency) is displayed into another currency (i.e. your home currency) using an exchange rate that typically includes a service fee.
We recommend NOT to opt for DCC settlement if offered by merchant at the time of payment of bills.
What is a pre-authorisation? What precaution should I take if a pre-authorisation transaction has to be made on my Forex Prepaid Card?
- When you check into a hotel or rent a car using your ICICI Bank Student Forex Prepaid Card, the merchant may block a certain amount on your card. This is called pre-authorisation. We recommend that you DO NOT use your Forex Prepaid Card at the time of checking-in or initiating a rental. Use any other credit card for making the reservations. Merchants will allow you to use your ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card at the time of settling your final bill.
- If you have used your ICICI Bank Student Forex Prepaid Card for check-in or while renting a car, please ensure that at the time of final settlement you cancel the pre-authorisation and take a fresh authorisation for the actual bill amount. If this is not done, pre-authorised funds may not be available to you immediately. Based on Visa norms, ICICI Bank may not be able to credit you the pre-authorised amount for up to 31 days from the date of pre-authorisation.
What needs to be done incase Hotels/Car Rentals take a Pre-Authorization?
Hotels/Car Rentals before check-in/renting services etc, take a pre-auth on your card. A Pre-Auth is essentially blocking of certain amount on your card which becomes unaccessible to you unless gets settled. We recommend that you DO NOT use your ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card at the time of checking-in or initiating a rental. Use any other credit/debit card for making the reservations. At the time of checking out of the hotel/settling the bill, you should:
- Ask the executive to settle the final bill against the pre-auth that was taken.
- Ask the executive to cancel the pre-auth (credit back the amount) that was taken and settle the bill by taking an authorization for the actual bill amount.
- Ask the executive to provide you the cancelled or VOID transaction slip for the same transaction and present the same to your bank for reversal of the unsettled transaction.
In the event of the Merchant neither reversing back the amount nor providing you the VOID transaction slip for submission to your bank, ICICI Bank would credit back the amount immediately after 31st day from the date of transaction. Incase of Cash withdrawal unsettled transaction, same will be released on 11th day from the date of transaction.
What documents are needed during purchase/recharge?
During purchase of a ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card, customers need to provide the following:
- Passport
- A2 form
- PAN
They would also need to fill up and sign the ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card application form. The same documents need to be provided.
How do I activate my Secondary Card?
The Secondary Card can be activated by calling at the call centre and then request for balance transfer. Your ATM and web PIN can also be generated. Should you happen to lose both, the primary as well as secondary card, you can ask for another replacement card that will be sent to your location.
How do I generate or change my Web PIN?
Web PIN can be generated from ICICI Bank Customer Care and it can be changed after login into Web Portal. In case of secondary card new ATM and Web PIN will be required.

How do I track my transactions from any location in the world?
You can log in to Internet Banking with your User ID and Password used for ICICI Bank Savings Account. If you do not have an account with ICICI Bank, you will have to click on ‘Get User ID’ to generate a User ID. The User ID and Password will be sent to you through SMS. If you forget the User ID/ Password or don’t receive it, you can click on ‘Get User ID’ or ‘Forgot Password’ to retrieve the credentials.

How does a ICICI Bank Multicurrency Chip Card work?
Following are the step for using a ICICI Bank Multicurrency Chip Card:
- The cashier inserts the chip Card in the POS terminal.
- The chip card must remain in the terminal till the transaction is completed.
- If the merchant accidentally swipes the card at the place of inserting the card, the terminal will automatically identify it as a chip card. The terminal will force the cashier to insert chip card instead of doing a swipe. If the POS terminal does not have chip facility, the card can be used for normal magnetic stripe swipe on the POS terminal.
What if I forget the ATM PIN of my ICICI Bank Multi Currency Forex Prepaid Card?
If you forget the ATM PIN, you may generate the same by using any of the following methods.

Section I Personal Accident Cover
- Mode of transit covered: Air
Section II Missing of Connecting International Flight During Transit
- This cover is applicable when the insured person has already taken the first international flight and the subsequent flight's scheduled departure time is at least six hours after the scheduled arrival of the first flight.
- Additional expenses for transport, accommodation and boarding will be paid subject a maximum of the sum insured.
Section III Loss of Travel Documents(Passport and Tickets)
- Time excess of twelve hours is applicable for loss of travel documents.
- The cost of expenses due to loss of passport will be paid subject to a maximum of the sum insured.
- No claim will be payble for the loss or damage in the event of:
- Delay or confiscation by customer/police or other authority or
- The theft is not reported to the police within 24 hours.
Section IV Hijacking
- USD 125 per day will be paid subject to a maimum of seven days and the sum insured in excess of 12 hours
Section V delay in receipt of checked baggage
- Additional expenses incurred due to delayed baggage will be payable
- This cover will be applicable if the delay is more than twelve hours.
- A non-delivery certificate must be obtained immediately from the airline
- A claim will be payble only if no comensation is paid by the airline

- All transactions 2 days prior to reporting/7 days post reporting includeing the date of reporting.
Section VII
- All point-of-sale transactions are covered under this, no PIN based transactions are covered.
Exclusions: All Covers are subject to exclusion of loss/damage/liability due to terrorist activity.

You would get an SMS confirmation shortly after your card is loaded or reloaded or refunded. You may call up our customer care center also to know your balance. You can login into the website and check the transactions anytime.
Why would I need a replacement Forex Prepaid Card?
You may need a replacement card if you lose both the Primary Card and the Secondary Card. You can apply for a replacement Forex Prepaid card and it will be delivered to your registered address.
How can I apply for a refund on the Forex Prepaid card?
To apply for a refund, please visit your nearest select ICICI Bank branch or your money changer (For Details, pls call up our Customer Care Centre).
You need to fill up a Refund Form and provide copies of your ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card and your passport. The funds will be returned to you immediately.
Customers can also apply for refund Online by logging into iMobile and Internet Banking. The amount will be refunded directly to Bank account within 1 working day.
Can I use my Forex Prepaid Card in India/Nepal/Bhutan?

What if I forget the ATM PIN of the ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card?
In case the ATM/PIN is forgotten, call the Customer Care request for new ATM Pin. The new PIN will be triggered in a password protected format to the registered e-mail ID of the customer. Can I transact in currencies other than base currency (dollar ,euros, pounds etc) using the Forex Prepaid Card?
Yes, ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card allows transactions (cash withdrawal and point-of-sale transaction) in any local currency. For any currency other than the base currency, there will be an exchange rate which will be applied.
Can an ATM be used to check the amount of funds remaining on the Forex Prepaid Card?
Most ATMs have the facility to check the balance on a card in the local currency.
Will the ATM display foreign exchange rates that one can use before withdrawing cash?
No. Post withdrawal of cash, with the figures for amount withdrawn and balance available, it is possible to arrive at the exchange rate charged.

Are Mail Order- Telephone Order (MOTO) transactions allowed for Forex Prepaid Card?
Yes, MOTO Transaction are allowed on the ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card. Do avoid transactions in Card Not Present situation. Also, avoid use of your ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card for pre-authorisation / initiating a rental at the time of checking-in at hotels or Car rental.
Is the ATM/Web PIN of the replacement card the same as the ATM/Web PIN of the primary card?
No you have to generate a new ATM PIN however Web PIN will remain the same.
Where do I find the Primary card and Secondary Card?
Primary Card is attached with the welcome letter.
Secondary Card is attached at the last page of the booklet
How will the customer get SMS alerts and e-mail alerts of his/her transactions?
On every transaction the customer will receive SMS and e-mail alerts on his/her registered mobile number and e-mail ID respectively. To receive SMS alerts while abroad the customer needs to activate international roaming on his/her registered Indian mobile number. The customer can also update the international mobile number and set priority to ‘International’ through Net Banking/iMobile Pay. Updating international mobile number will incur charges as per the Schedule of Charges.
How can the customer maximize saving using the ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card?
The customers can maximize their saving by using the card at POS terminal, swiping the card to make payment rathr than withdrawing currency from ATMs and there by incurring ATM withdrawal charges while there are no charging for POS usage provided swipe is made in the same currency as the card.
Will my ATM PIN of the replacement forex prepaid card continue to be the same as the ATM PIN of the earlier card?
No. the customer will receive a new ATM PIN along with the replacement card. The customer need to use that for transacting at ATMs. For Multicurrency Forex Prepaid Card, customer may can use the other PIN mailer for ATM PIN provided in the welcome kit.
How is the ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card secured against unauthorised cash withdrawals from ATMs?
The Forex Prepaid card comes with advanced security features. To withdraw cash from a VISA ATM using the pre-paid card, customers need the confidential ATM-PIN which is available only to the customers.
The ATM-PIN is issued at the time of card purchase. Customers need to remember the 4 digit PIN number and destroy the document. Do not write in on the card. The card would be blocked after 4 unsuccessful PIN attempts. This ensures that anyone having access to the card cannot use the card.
How is the ICICI Bank Forex Prepaid Card secured against unauthorised payments at merchant outlets?
Transactions at merchant outlets at protected by signature. The merchant has to match the signature on the chargeslip (produced by the Electronic Data Capture machine at the time of purchase) with the signature on the signature panel on the reverse of the card.
The customers must sign on the signature panel immediately on getting the card.
Will the ATM PIN of the replacement Forex Prepaid Card continue to be the same as the ATM PIN of the previous card?
No. The customer will receive a new ATM PIN along with the replacement card. The customer needs to use that for transacting at ATMs. The ATM PIN is triggered to the registered mobile number of the customer as soon as the replacement card is activated.
What is a ICICI Bank Chip Card?
The ICICI Bank Chip Card has a chip inside the card which will change the way you make payments while you are overseas. The chip inside your Forex Prepaid Card makes payment at merchant even more secure. The card works on chip based technology rather than magnetic strip based technology.
How does a ICICI Bank Chip Card work?
Following are the step for using a ICICI Bank Chip Card
- The cashier inserts the chip Card in the POS terminal
- The chip card must remain in the terminal till the transaction is completed
- If the merchant accidentally swipes the card at the place of inserting the card, the terminal will automatically identify it as a chip card. The terminal will force the cashier to insert chip card instead of doing a swipe
If the POS terminal does not have chip facility, the card can be used for normal magnetic stripe swipe on the POS terminal.
What security features are implemented to prevent unauthorised usage of a replacement card before it reaches you?
The replacement card would be couriered in ‘Inactive’ status.
The card can be activated only when the customer calls up our customer care from his/her registered mobile number and confirms the receipt of the card in proper condition. Without this verification, the card will not be enabled for transactions
Is remote loading of the Forex Prepaid Card possible?
Yes, remote loading of the Forex Prepaid Card is possible. Here is the process:
Leave a signed copy of the Reload Form and authorisation with your family
Your family member can then visit the nearest designated ICICI Bank Branch or the authorised money changer with the Reload Form
On submission of these documents and receipt of payment, the card will be reloaded
Alternatively, the card can also be reloaded online in real-time by using iMobile Pay or Internet Banking.
What should I do if my card is lost/stolen?
If your card is lost or stolen, you should immediately contact Customer Care and report the loss/theft of your card. They will block your card. Alternatively, you can also block your card through iMobile Pay or Internet Banking.

The Secondary Card is available only in Coral, Student and Sapphiro Forex Prepaid Card variants. You will not get Secondary Card in Multicurrency Forex Prepaid Card variant.
