DTAA stands for Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement. Income Tax rates will be as per DTAA (Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement) agreed between India and various countries, in the case of depositor is resident of any of those countries.
You can avail DTAA benefit on your NRO accounts by providing a self-declaration in the prescribed format, self attested PAN card copy, Form 10F and tax residency certificate for the current year.

Yes. You can convert your Resident Account to NRO account.
According to FEMA guidelines, when an individual changes his residential status from 'Resident' to 'Non-Resident', he must re-designate his resident account as an NRO (Non-Resident Ordinary) account. Along with the NRO account you can open NRE account.

Can I transfer funds from my NRO to an NRE / FCNR account?
Funds from NRO account cannot be transferred to an NRE / FCNR account since funds in an NRO account cannot be repatriated outside India. However, RBI has now permitted transfer from NRO account to NRE account subject to the submission of required documents and subject to total amount of funds transferred to NRE account and/or repatriated abroad through NRO account during this financial year is within the limit of USD One million.

No, only 1 person can be nominated for an account
Can I register different nominees for different recurring deposit accounts?
Yes, you can have separate nominations for different accounts.
If I register a nominee when I open the account, do I have to fill in the nomination every time I make a new deposit?
No, you don't have to go through the same procedure every time. ICICI Bank allows NRIs to give a one-time instruction to make the nominee applicable for all accounts.
Can I get loans against my NRO fixed deposits?
Yes, you can get up to 90% of your fixed deposit as loan.
Are my NRO Fixed Deposit funds repatriable?
The principal amount is not repatriable and can be used only for local payments. However, the interest earned is fully repatriable. Other current incomes such as pensions, dividends, rent, etc are also repatriable, subject to producing the appropriate certificate from a chartered accountant.
Funds up to USD 1 million (or equivalent) per financial year can be repatriated out of the balance held in NRO accounts for any bonafide purpose

Can I transfer funds from a third-party account to open an FCNR FD?
No, FCNR FDs can be opened with funds from Accounts where the name of the recipient (FD holder) and the remitter (Account holder) is the same.
Is interest earned on FCNR account taxable in India?
No, Interest earned on FCNR Fixed Deposit Account is not taxable in India.
What is the tenure for which I can open an FCNR Deposit?
You can maintain an FCNR deposit for a tenure ranging from 12 months to 60 months.
What will happen to my Fixed Deposit if it matures and I forget about it?
If the Fixed Deposit is opened in the auto-renewal mode, ICICI Bank will automatically renew the Fixed Deposit and it will keep earning you interest. However, if the FD is not opened in the auto-renewal mode, you must give us written maturity instructions.

Can I close my FCNR Deposits prematurely?
You can close your FCNR Deposits before the due date. The following clauses would be applicable:
a.Before completion of 1 year: No interest will be payable and no penalty will be levied.
b.After completion of 1 year: On premature withdrawal of the deposit, Interest shall be paid at the rate applicable to the amount and period for which the deposit remained with the bank and no penalty will be levied

For deposits of amount equal to or greater than Rs 1 million or its equivalent, FD closure request signed by all deposit holders is to be accompanied with self-attested copies of the passports of each deposit holder and a cancelled cheque of a NRE or NRO account held in the same Customer Id as the deposit being closed. The ICICI Bank official shall call for self-attested copies of the passport of all applicants as a part of in-person verification.

Yes. The amount of loan that can be sanctioned would depend on the currency of the FCNR, please refer table below for details:

Yes, the principal amount and interest earned are fully repatriable.
RFC fixed deposit
In which currencies can RFC fixed deposits be opened?
RFC term deposit accounts can be opened with following currencies: USD and GBP.
What is the interest rate and tenures for RFC deposits?
The interest rate on RFC account are set as per ICICI Bank policy and updated on our website. The RFC fixed deposits are accepted for tenures from 1 month to 36 months. The minimum amounts for opening these deposits are USD 1000 or GBP 1000. Premature closures of deposits are subject to penalty of 1% on the rate applicable for the period for which the deposit has been with the Bank or the contracted rate, Whichever is lower.
Can an RFC account be opened by transferring balances in my NRI accounts?
RFC accounts can be opened by transfer of balances in FCNR deposits with banks in India. This also includes the maturity proceeds of the Resurgent India Bonds (RIBs). The account cannot be opened with funds from an Easy Rupee Account. However, once the RFC account is opened with eligible funds as above, the balances in the Easy Rupee Account of the depositor can be transferred into the RFC account.
Who can be a joint holder for such an account?
The account can be held jointly with another person resident in India who is eligible to open an RFC account.
Can I open a RFC account anytime after returning to India?
There is no restriction on when you can open an RFC account for persons resident in India as long as they meet the condition of eligibility as stated above. Further, for returning NRIs, the eligibility to open this account is not linked in any way with their RNOR status under the Income Tax Act.
Can funds in the RFC account be repatriated abroad?
The funds in an RFC account are free from all restrictions regarding utilisation of foreign currency balances. They can be invested in the OBU Singapore Deposits, but not in OBU Seepz, in view of the restriction that the OBU Seepz cannot accept deposits from persons resident in India.
In whose favour can nominations be made?
Nominations can be made in favour of residents as well as non-residents. On the death of the depositor, repatriation of the balances in the account is permissible to a nominee resident outside India, to the extent of his share or entitlement from the account of the deceased account holder. In the event of the nominee being a person resident in India, who is desirous of remitting funds outside India, out of his share for meeting the liabilities abroad of the deceased, an application would have to be made to the Reserve Bank of India for such remittance.

No, only 1 person can be nominated for an account

Yes, you can have separate nominations for different accounts.
If I register a nominee when I open the account, do I have to fill in the nomination every time I make a new deposit?
No, you don't have to go through the same procedure every time. ICICI Bank allows NRIs to give a one-time instruction to make the nominee applicable for all accounts.
Who is eligible to open an RFC account?
A person resident in India can open an RFC Account with foreign exchange received:
- As pension or any other superannuation or other monetary benefits from his employer outside India; OR
- As proceeds of sale of assets (foreign currency, foreign security or any immovable property situated outside India) if such currency, security or property was acquired, held or owned by such person when he was resident outside India; OR
- Received as gift or inheritance from a person who was resident outside India. In this regard, foreign security is defined as any security in the form of shares, stocks, bonds, debentures or any other instrument denominated or expressed in foreign currency and includes securities expressed in foreign currency, but where redemption or any form of return such as interest or dividends is payable in Indian currency.
