Karan fell victim to phonespoofing. The scammermanipulated his caller ID in a waythat made his number appear asthe customer care number ofXYZ Bank. Karan believed thesmooth-talking scammer as anemployee of his bank and lost hishard-earned money!
This is how you can avoid being phonespoofed:-
Never share your personal or confidentialinformation over calls.
ICICI Bank or its employees will never ask suchdetails from you.
No outbound calls are made using ICICI BankWhatsApp number. It is for use on WhatsApp chatonly.
Always treat unknown calls with caution; displayednumbers may not be genuine.
Always end the call if the caller is putting pressureor asking for personal/confidential details.
Make a note of scam calls with date, time, firmname (if known), and number the call is comingfrom.
Report such calls immediately to National CyberCrime at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930.
