Do you have tie up with United Health Group?
Yes. We have allied with United Health Group (UHG), one of the largest health care companies in the US. This tie-up will give all our travelers access to United Healthcare's network of hospitals & physicians.
What is the difference between Europ Assistance and United Health Group?
United Health Group is the leading health care services provider in the US. This tie-up will give all our travelers access to United Healthcare's network of hospitals & physicians However, for registering any claims – medical or non-medical, you need to call our ASP - Europ Assistance. They are the ASP who will settle your claims abroad on our behalf.
What is the added feature or service that I can avail through United Health Group which are different from that of Europ Assistance?
Our tie-up will give all our travelers access to United Healthcare's network of hospitals & physicians. This also means that when you avail services from a hospital under the United Health Group network, you do not have to pay any extra charges. The services that we provide through our ASP Europ Assistance are claims related, be it medical or non-medical, to be availed worldwide. Register your claims with our ASP (Assistance Service Provider) Administrator) Europe Assistance who will in turn direct you the nearest United Health Group hospital/physician in your locality wherein you can receive treatment.
What is an Immigrant Visa?
An immigrant visa is required for anyone who wishes to enter a country to reside there permanently. To receive an immigrant visa, one has to meet certain requirements usually in education, family or work field, depending on the immigration laws of that particular country.
What is 'pre-existing illness'? Does this policy cover Pre-existing diseases?
A 'Pre-Existing Illness' is one with which the person is already suffering from before he buys the policy. For the purpose of this policy, pre-existing disease is defined as:
- An illness which has not been treated
- An illness which is already treated
- An illness for which medical advice has been sought in the last six months before commencement of the trip abroad
In our policy, *Pre-existing condition would only be covered in case of life-threatening situations or in the case of acute pain, till the patient is brought to a stable condition.
* "Life Threatening situations" refers to a medical condition suffered by the insured, which has the following characteristics:
- Markedly unstable vital parameters (blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiratory rate)

Acute impairment of one or more vital organ systems (involving brain, heart, lungs, Liver, Kidneys and pancreas)
- Critical care being provided, which involves high complexity decision making to assess, manipulate and support vital system function(s) to treat single or multiple vital organ failure(s) and requires interpretation of multiple physiological parameters and application of advanced technology.
- Critical care being provided in critical care area such as coronary care unit, intensive care unit, respiratory care unit, or the emergency department.
What happens if my baggage is delayed for more than one day but not lost?
ICICI Lombard International Travel Insurance policy covers checked-in baggage loss and delay. If your baggage is delayed for more than 12 hours, the compensation for emergency items purchased, like medicines, clothing and toiletries, would be given. If your baggage is lost, then compensation for the market value of the items lost is given. The compensation will be upto medical sum insured on providing the required documents

Which hospitals are covered under the International Travel Policy?
You can access worldwide hopitalisation coverage through our ASP (Assistance Service Provider) - Europ Assistance. In order to facilitate greater access to quality health care, ICICI Lombard has partnered with leading US-based Health Care provider United Health Group, to provide better health care benefits and services to be availed when in the US.
If I take a 2 month Travel Insurance Policy, would I be able to extend it later, as per my requirement?
Yes, you can extend your International Travel Insurance Policy very easily, online. We would however, recommend you to buy the policy for the full duration, as the extension depends on the terms and conditions of the Company. Please refer to the Policy wording for details.
Senior Citizen Plan (for age between 71 yrs to 85 yrs) policy can be issued for a maximum of 360 days including extensions.
In case you decide to shorten your stay before the policy expires, you can reimburse the premium for unused policy duration (minimum unused period must be 30 days). For instance, if you take a policy with initial duration of six months but later decide to come back earlier, you can reimburse the premium for unused policy duration provided you are in India by the end of fifth month.
What do you mean by daily allowance $25?
If the Insured Person is hospitalised for more than 2 days, we provide a daily allowance of $25 as compensation. This benefit can be claimed only once during the Policy period and for a maximum of 5 days. This money can help you to ensure above-standard hospital treatment or help your family with their travel expenses for hospital visits.
I would be travelling for only 4 days, will I get international travel insurance cover?
Below is a brief description of conditions covered under the medical coverage
- Inpatient or Out patient treatment, provided, the same is critical and cannot be deferred till the insured's return to the Republic of India
- Medical aid, Radiotherapy, heat therapy, photo therapy, X-Ray, Diagnostic test and other such treatment/diagnostic tests prescribed by a Physician
- Cost of transportation, including necessary medical care en-route, by recognized
emergency service providers for medical attention at the nearest hospital or at the
nearest Physician
- Life saving unforeseen emergency measures, or measures solely designed to relieve
acute pain, provided to the Insured by the Physician for Disease/accident arising out of a
pre-existing condition. The treatment for these emergency measures would be paid till
the insured becomes medically stable or is relieved from acute pain.

If we need to claim later then what is the process?
The claim needs to be intimated at the numbers provided. Once intimated the insured will receive the claims form along with the list of documents required for processing the claim. The claim form is available on the website, and you will also receive the forms along with the policy, you can submit them with relevant documents.
Do we have to contact the TPA (Third Party Administrator) in case of illness and/or emergency?
Yes, all insurance claims throughout the world are settled by TPA (Third Party Administrator). In our case, it is Europ Assistance.
In case of hospitalisation, the charges would be directly paid to the hospital, for that you would need to call our TPA (Third Party Administrator) on our Helpline number at +91 22 6787 2010 (it's the agency who will settle your claims abroad on our behalf ) and they will arrange for a cashless facility. If it is a case of emergency, the TPA would help you provide the cashless facility in the nearest hospital, or else they will inform you on the hospital where you can avail the treatment.
How many providers in the US accept ICICI Lombard's International Travel insurance?
In case of claims, you need to contact our TPA (Third Party Administrator), Europe Assistance. They have tie-ups with almost all local TPAs (Third Party Administrator in the US, thus making a huge coverage list. They will arrange for the cashless facility for you in the nearest hospital.

How does the reimbursement claim process work?

What is the deductible that you have?
There is a Deductible/Policy Excess of US $ 100. This implies for any claim the first $100 is to be borne by the insured. This deductible is applicable on per illness (complete treatment) basis and not on per visit to the doctor / hospital. However, we do not have any co-pays. Similarly, there is a deductible of $50 for loss of passport and a policy excess of 12 hours in case your airplane is hijacked
Do you settle my claim when I am back in India?
Except in the case of financial emergency, we can also settle claims, once you are back in India When you are abroad, We also have a cashless facility in case of hospitalization. Please register your claims through our TPA (Third Party Administrator) Europe Assistance. They will arrange for the cashless facility for you in the nearest hospital. So whether you claim abroad or when you are back in India, the claims would be settled with our TPA (Third Party Administrator).
In case of hospitalisation how will I get a cashless facility?

In case of an OPD treatment, the claims will be settled on your return to India and submission of documents.
How do the hospitals across US recognize your Insurance and how do you offer us cashless facility?
When you buy a policy from us, we issue a health card with your digital insurance policy (you can easily take print out of the same) which entitles you to treatment and services across United HealthGroup countrywide network of hospitals and physicians across the US. Our team also provides you referral to a provider wherein you can receive treatment.
What is the process for making a claim under this policy?
